Guidance on Career Gap

Hi everyone,

I am very much interested in working with data field (mainly data engineer because of growth perspective which i don't see in my current field) and i am currently wokring in a field totally different from that so i am thinking about quitting from my current organisation to start preparaing for the data role and i also don't think that the experience of my current role will going to add on anything important to the role where i want to be in future (and why i am not able to prepare for this along with my 9 hours job is because of the work load and commute time, so not getting much time to prepare) so, i was just looking for some guidance on how would the career gap will impact my career? should i not quit without any offer in hand? Or is it fine to have some career gap in this kind of scenario? any kind of input would be appreciated and also i am thinking about higher studies (masters) if this doesn't work out. Thanks
