Growth areas in the automotive sector.

I am currently working as a senior data engineer at Mercedes-Benz. I would like to move internally to other teams which have a steep learning curve and work on the latest trends. I have been told that software defined vehicles and connected cars are growth areas. Wanted to check with folks here about your opinion.
