Grateful !! No complaints!!

This post is just to motivate my peers and not feel dejected. I started my career at Wipro as a WILP student. I left Wipro after 5.10 Years. And my CTC while I left Wipro was 6.75LPA.

I was trying to switch company after my 5th year at Wipro.

The initial challenge was to get interview calls. Eventually, when I started getting calls I realised that I need to make myself worthy of the jobs as well, as most of the companies demanded best of skills out there in the market. I started learning consistently and focussing on understanding the basics of the topics very well.

In a couple of weeks, my efforts started reflecting in results. I aced a few interviews. I got an offer at TCS initially, post which I resigned from Wipro. I was still attending some interviews as I felt I could get a better package than what TCS had offered.

And luckily I did bag a couple of other offers as well. And the final offer that I got is almost 180% of my CTC at Wipro. I didnโ€™t believe it was possible until it actually happened.

So, what I want to say is focus on your skillset. Be a patient and smart communicator. And trust me you will reach your goal.

So never doubt yourselves, instead be consistent and stay focused. You will get there eventually !! All the best to those who are trying and congratulations to all those have made it!!โค๏ธ

I really needed this today. Iโ€™ve been consistently applying for jobs but havenโ€™t received any calls from HR. I feel so undervalued in my current company, Wipro. After working here for three years, theyโ€™re putting me on the bench again just because the client doesnโ€™t want to continue with Wipro anymore. Despite all the hard work, I havenโ€™t received even a single promotion.

Although the client always appreciated my work, my managers and leaders never did. I truly gave my best. But over the last three years, Iโ€™ve learned one thing โ€” there's no real benefit in working honestly and sincerely here. Because the ones who move ahead are not the hard workers, but the clever ones. Honest work has no value. Itโ€™s all about office politics โ€” ruining someone elseโ€™s efforts and taking credit. Thatโ€™s exactly what people have done to me.

It hurt deeply when someone else got promoted, even though I was more deserving โ€” just because he knows how to make noise about the smallest bit of work, even when he hasnโ€™t done much. Meanwhile, people like me, who are more introverted and donโ€™t interact as much, get ignored.

Iโ€™ve learned a hard but important lesson โ€” believing in yourself is essential, but itโ€™s equally important to know how to showcase your work. Thatโ€™s the key.

Man, I know what your mind is going through. I have a different perspective though. Even I never received a good hike or promotion throughout my tenure there! But I never felt it right to blame the company for it. Also just a very personal opinion, you would never be in a good space if you feel agonised because someone from your team got promoted instead of you! This will eat up your mental peace, which is never good. Rather, it is great to have a self reflection and understand why didnโ€™t you get it even though you were better in terms of work. Negative thoughts are okay, but keeping any grudges against a company or a person will just increase what you feel. Take this as an opportunity and try to correct the things which will take you to higher places.

I am sure you will reach greater heights, just keep a positive attitude. All the best man!

This is the situation at most Indian led companies. They have big ego so they expect pleasing and noise. It's part of toxic work culture.

Thanks buddy!

When it comes to communication, confidence is the key. But I think the problem is , people confuse confidence with technical knowledge. For example, when I say I am confident, that doesnโ€™t mean I am confident of giving all the answers correctly in the interview. My confidence is that, if I know the answer correctly I can answer efficiently and I can convey it to the interviewer as well, and at the same time if I donโ€™t know the answer at all, I will show enough guts to accept that I donโ€™t know, but back myself to learn it in case! Your no should be as confident as your yes. This is something that people miss out on.
I hope I didnโ€™t confuse much! All the best to you!

In wipro , I worked as a pyspark dev with big data skills. Right now, i am working as a data analyst.

Speaking of interviews, I have to admit that there is no such thing as an easy interview, each were tough in its own way. But definitely not tough like the MAANG interviews. Coming from a big data engineering background, mine was more around those topics and of course, SQL and python played an important part as well.

Hereโ€™s the thing, my first interview was very bad, but I think that was the best thing that happened to me. I realised that I was not meeting the expectations of the interviewer on multiple topics, and I thoroughly worked on it which helped me for later interviews.

Why did you stay at Wipro for so long at low salary?

PerkyPanda
PerkyPanda

Even though my salary was very low, wipro provided a post graduation program for me, for which the covered the complete expenses. I could have left earlier if I wanted to, but I decided to complete it and then leave.

Congratulations Bro!!!

Did you get any issues with long notice periods and did you apply any strategy to tackle it?

PerkyPanda

Thanks bro! Yes it was a nightmare!! But I did put in a lot of effort to research about the companies! I would suggest you do the same. Because there are companies who donโ€™t mind your notice periods.

Thanks for posting this. Otherwise I only see posts like- "I have 2 YOE with 30LPA salary, is it less?".

This actually is the reality that most of these ZIRP era Gen-Z babies wouldn't get.
