Govt or IT

I have an offer as an assistant engineer in central government, also I'm currently in IT as a UX designer. My package is not great now and I'm confused about joining the govt job or stay in software.

Go for ssc work for 2-3 yrs, side by side either prep for upsc or state pcs or maybe do mba or phd from abroad.

Thinking of UPSC, but feels a bit too much as I'm in my late 20s. Do not wanna do an MBA, already have a master from IITB.

Always go for government

Both are different paths in life, depends on what you want from life.

Government - stable job, working in one organization, slower learning, staying in one city / location, lesser pay.

IT - frequently changing jobs and organizations for better pay or due to layoffs, working across multiple organizations across career, more rapid & constant learning, moving between cities like Pune HYD BLR for better jobs, higher pay & possible opportunities for moving abroad.

Both are very different life trajectories, so the choice totally depends upon your personality & preferences - whether you want the stability of a government job life, or the dynamic life of an IT job.

Good luck with the choice! 😊👍
