Government to Release Monthly Unemployment Data

• The government will start releasing monthly unemployment figures for urban and rural areas from April, as announced by Saurabh Garg, secretary of MoSPI.
• The new data collection will provide district-level estimates, enhancing policy-making at a granular level, and will be released after assessing January-March data.
• The ministry is also increasing collaboration with state governments and leveraging AI and alternative data sources to improve data quality and policy impact.
