Government spying on Opposition?😳

Many opposition leaders posted today on Twitter saying they got this alert message from Apple warning that the government might be tracking their device. This is absolutely shocking if true! 😳😳

Government getting ready for next year elections? Is this the largest democracy we boast about?

Modiji doesn't want to know your location. He already knows it.

There is no privacy and that's the fact. Don't know when people will accept it.

Even if you are offline google and meta know your location and a noob in Hacking community can get all your private data within 5 minutes except if you never used a smart device.

Anyone with an iPhone who received this?

Why will any normal person get this? Obviously they won’t do it to every user. It will be targeted to specific people only.

If this is indeed true, you're assuming these are Indian state sponsored attackers. Could be absolutely anyone.

This is off a notified article Apple released earlier this year. IIRC they also said that this notification could be a FALSE alarm.

The funniest thing is Google, Meta, Apple knows everything about you is fine but if government wants to know all hell break loose. If anyone wants privacy, stop using smart phone and internet else you don’t deserve privacy.

Such a useless argument! How can you even compare handling of data by private entity with a government? And also the most important aspect is how is the data being used.

Do you even realise the intention of the government if they are doing anything like this? This is not only illegal but against the fundamental principles of our constitution. Or you are too naive to realise the depth of the issue?

Jai ho baba gyaani ki, baba ji bataye ki private entity are all god send and used data only for benefits of ppl such as reducing threats etc while government, an evil organisation selected by ppl, are using it to maximise their gains by targeting ads etc. and btw do you know that our constitution was written in circa 2010 and has covered extensively on rights related to usage of smartphones and privacy related to it? I am so naive that I don’t argue on public policy and conspiracies.

This. If they were so privacy conscious as they claim to be, they’d have quit the Chinese market a long time ago, but they haven’t…. Because… well, they caved to Pooh bear ages ago.

Remember Pegasus? Opposition cried a lot grabbed a lot of attention and then were hammered in court when no mobile submitted were found infected with Pegasus. Same thing will happen again.

Bhima koregaon case was proved to have Pegasus involved. Planted evidence.

Context of Pegasus: hui hui we are big ass opposition our mobiles are being tracked Modi is dictator, Pegasus is used. Truth: no Pegasus found in all submitted devices by supreme court. Context of this post: hui hui we are big ass opposition, Modi is dictator our Apple phones are being tracked by him.

It is hard for you to understand contexts, don't worry after 40 years of active attempts you can be the youth president of context understanding club.

Has been happening for decades. From phone wire tapping to modern day hacks. Nothing new about it.

Happens all around the world too, not just India or US.

True. How divided our country is, even on something which clearly should cause huge news in a modern civilised country.

Just a made-up Boogeymen projecting govt as more capable than it actually is. Here's why:

  1. This govt is too incapable to build something so sophisticated. Their bridges crumble a few hours after inauguration. A few days ago their state machinery couldn't anticipate a terror attack on the world's most sacrosanct minority- Jews.

  2. Second and most important, party is just a label. All the politicians shuffle between parties and groups and except the key faces everyone changes their employer every now and then. It's all the matter of highest bidder which at central is BJP and at state level there are many. If something of this scale happens it would take less than 10 seconds for the news to reach every two-bit leader of the country thereby defeating the purpose.

you can either have privacy or security... not both. I'm fine with government surveillance if it ensures a prevention from terrorists, riot, gangwar, drug epidemics for its citizens.

that being said , when it's used against people as a weapon. that's when you end up with neither privacy nor security... which is a bad state to be in.
