Got support project in TCS; 2yoe; feeling deepressed
I've prior experience as a Full Stack Developer in Information Technology in a startup. Now, I switched to TCS, hoping that I would up my career game. The salary was doubled.
My interview was based on a specific skill set (NodeJS), and I was selected based on that. I had an initial talk with the manager, and he informed me that he would offer me development positions within the company, as I had startup experience. However, I was assigned to a project which has nothing but a support role. When I discussed this with my manager, he told me that, the project requires enhancement, and more features are to be added. But I don't trust him anymore due to the fact that he already lied. And once I am onboarded to a project, it is very difficult to leave it.

If you were not given work as promised & as per the JD, I'd say you have the moral high ground, even legal to leave without serving idiosyncracies like the notice period. You're responsible for your own wellbeing, and need to excercise it, the way the company is exceeding it's own.

If you are in a position to switch immediately, go for it.
If you want to give this a chance, I suggest you work on the project to understand it better. Now, support means a lot of things in a project, but the good news is you have a working code for a project. Go through the details, find out it’s architecture, why was it designed that way, do your support job(if it’s something that’s easy, you have time to prepare/chill depending on your mood).

I would see this as a blessing , work there for 3 months understand their code .learn new stuff which can be applied on a dev project.

If you are in probation with reduced notice period, you can consider looking for a new job with product company or smaller service company. It took me a year to be the go getter for the team, at which point the client moved more of its work in house and I had to start looking for new job.

Change job again

Stay one year Max , don't expect much learning, do required work , parellely keep doing external certifications or finish courses in udemy

Lol! You can't up your career game by joining TCS :/
