Trending @Infosys; Got needs improvement ratings. What's the consequences

Hi, one of my friend got needs improvement rating in the current cycle. It was given by the previous manager. Actually the previous manager is not responding to her messages in teams. She is currently working on new project. How can the needs improvement rating affect the career. Will my friend get terminated or put into pip after getting this rating.
