Go for Bike or scooty

I commute 20km round trip through Marathahalli bridge. Thinking of buying a two wheeler for daily office commute and occasional highway ride (in an around 100 -200 km ) of blr

What shall i go with?

Current condition of ev : i live on the 10th floor and the building is old style so i have run a cable and a cover from my flat till the basement and fix the charger. My office doesn't have a charger in the parking lot either. We have one charger adjacent to my building.

Folks please suggest and help me decide

Bike: Highway ride ✅️ Office Commute ✅️

Petrol Scooter: Highway Ride ⛔️ I'll tiring and uncomfortable
Office Commute ✅️

EV Scooter: Highway Ride ⛔️ Uncomfortable and charging issues Office Commute ⛔️ Can do, but you dont have a charging point in office and at home you have a makeshift kind of arrangement

I'll suggest to go for a Bike.
Go for atleast 150cc bike, I wont recomment anything below that for a highway ride.

Can consider Yamaha FZ for cheapest 150cc (just a suggestion)

Thank you for the detailed answer, I'm just confused as shall i optimize the highway ride which will be like 1% of the total ride I'll take compared to the office commute which will be a daily affair.

I would keep EV scooter out of the equation, doesn't fulfill all my purpose and fulfilling the main purpose is also somewhat troublesome. Charging points issue.

Regarding petrol scooter vs bike

I prefer bike as I am investing atleast
1.3 lakhs if I buy a scooty 1.5 lakhs if I am investing in a bike

25k wont make difference in this purchase but your 1% usage is not fulfilled. Even after making almost the same investment.

My personal Experience- I used Glamour 125cc for 3 years in Bangalore What I realized, I need good braking with ABS and a good shock absorber even for daily commute on potholes filled roads in Bangalore (*read any city in India).

125cc bike like a glamour etc is mostly used by gig workers (Rapido, Swiggy, Zomato etc). You wont feel good when you are randomly mistaken for a Rapido wala. Sounds funny but its my real experience.🫠. People judge you subconsciously for the things you own.

Recently I purchased a 150cc bike (Yamaha FZ - 1.4L onroad in Bangalore) and I believe its a perfect upgrade for me. Potholes give a lot less jerk. Braking is awesome, skidding reduced drastically. I have started going on long rides which I could never dare to go on my glamour again. The first time I did gave a severe backpain.

Also, if you have a good bike, you'll go on long rides more frequently, it wont be 1% for sure. If you dont have a good 2-wheeler suitable for long rides, you will almost never go on long rides.

Apart from @saymynames points, bikes have larger wheels, so they're more stable than scooters. My choice would be an adv bike. You won't have to care how the roads are, or what's there on the roads. And the upright seating position would be super comfortable for the highways too. Take test rides of as many bikes and scooters as possible, and you'll know for yourself.

Special mentions: Yamaha Aerox, Suzuki Vstrom SX.

Adventure bike you mean?

If you are sticking for a 2 wheeler, then go for a bike with good suspension. No scooter provides that and your back stays happier with bikes in general due to posture. With the rough and unmaintained roads, it is better and safer.
Get a bike with dual channel ABS and good grip tyres.

Any recommendations around 150-200cc?

For city traffic, petrol scooty is best.

Go for 125cc bike or scooter

Sorry, but this doesn't narrow down the options

Try borrowing from friends and travelling to office in peak traffic in each and then buy. In peak start-stop traffic changing gears becomes tiring, scooty would be much better since its automatic. If you can sort out charging issues (see if you can directly wire from meter at ground floor), ev in peak traffic is best wrt to comfort (no vibration, etc)
