3 things need to be in place 1) you need to out perform the team and make yourself stand out, 2) you need to be out of sync with market value, in the sense the company needs to know that replacing you will be more expensive and 3) the company needs to be doing well. If you have a positive feeling for all 3 then you can have some hopes otherwise just directly request with reason to back your request, but don't keep hopes abs look for a job elsewhere on the side.
