Getting Project release ! But need resign also.

Hi,

I am getting project release after 16 days. But I need to resign as well to join other firm immediately.

Should I ask the HR now for resignation on the same day ?

or

Should I wait for release and then approach RMG for resignation ?

Please share genuine and helpful advice 🙏.
