Getting a successful referral from LinkedIn
Hello everyone! I have been applying to companies recently for a job switch and asking for referrals on LinkedIn with 0 success. How do someone manage to get referrals based out of an app where no one responds to your texts.
Just wanted to know the best practices for getting things done.
How do you guys ask for referrals on LinkedIn? Do you first initiate a chat or directly write you want a referral for so and so roles.
Personal experience and success stories are much appreciated.

I have got my current job from LinkedIn referral. It doesn't happen overnight. You have to build a bond. Be active on LinkedIn rather than scrolling reels on Insta. I regularly wish people on LinkedIn for their work anniversaries, promotions, job switches, and even on birthdays. I guide people through commenting on posts when someone is in a dilemma. I write CFBR (commenting for better reach) on posts when someone posts their resume and asks for a job or referral through LinkedIn post. I interact with people via messages also. I have taken LinkedIn premium, which costs me around 5K per annum. But the transformation it brings in my professional life is exceptional and really worth it! If you directly intrude in someone's inbox and directly ask them for the referral then they will not likely entertain you.

How do you initiate chat with someone like a hiring manager?

As I mentioned, I don't directly start the main point. First, I will react to their posts, I will comment on them - not positive always - but what exactly I feel and my opinion about what they have posted. This way, they understand my perspective and then gradually they also start reacting to my posts and a professional bond is created.
At last - let me bust a myth - never msg or ask for referral to the hiring manager. They are on LinkedIn just for their job of recruitment and not to create any bond. I'll tell you my story. I got referred to in TCS by someone who is senior manager to me in my role in TCS. That person used to see my posts and achievements etc. on LinkedIn. We were connected for like 3-4 years. One day, when I started searching for job I asked that person if she could refer to me internally in TCS... and she did! Not just a buddy profile but she personally recommended my name to the recruiting HR. As they always say, well begun is half done!

It is all undercurrent things on LinkedIn... If you have right connection then you even don't need to open linkedin app.
