Geo Fencing like EU across base locations for this Project 🤦🏼

Since Jan this year as per our management, the client has asked them to enforce a geo fencing of 120 km around the base location. It is similar to the EU one where you can't and should not access the EU data outside the Schengen border.

Coming back to the topic, critical delivery is scheduled, Everything was going good then suddenly a good for nothing General Manager (our side) came and revoked the VPN access for all working beyond 120 km radius. And has been asking to come into that radius and connect through mobile hotspot and share him over the email to re-enable it.

The same customer has an ODC, re imaged our laptops so that all microsoft apps, services except edge browser are blocked. We can't even access the settings of our computer as well. But the same folks use WhatsApp for official communication (data privacy champions 😏). They allow WFH even within the radius.

And let's not speak about work culture and the level of micromanagement here. It's worthless to mention it here and folks must have guessed it. People need to stay in zoom calls the whole day, even if you take a break for 5 10 min Managers will call you. Have N number of status calls in a day just to give the same update.

My question is "WHY 120 KM !! WHY NOT 100 OR 110 OR 90". What's the logic behind that? Just because senior management doesn't want to move means others won't.
