I'm a GenZ so I'll answer this.

Yes, we race for an iPhone and dance at nightclubs. You also raced for the best car, biggest apartment, expensive clothes, large weddings. I can't see what your problem is?

If you want to go home, watch Arnab Goswami, crib about the world and sleep. Then go for it. We respect your choices, but we don't live by them. We try to find happiness in the little things (including the sky).

Yes we want to go to pretty cafes, capture pretty skies. At least we try to appreciate beauty - no matter what the motive.
Older generations have also run behind validation and likes on FB/Twitter. Don't deny it, we all know.

GenZ also openly talks about how our mental health is shit and we call out things which the older generations just accepted as 'tradition' or 'aisa hi hota hai'. (think women in traditional household roles, running after only salary, marriage and kids, jobs where you're not treated with basic human dignity).

You can dislike us for our differences, but GenZ will be the ones who will decide the fate of Climate Change, Mental Wellbring and Tech. We are the future and we're here to stay. Make space.

When I watch The Social Dilemma or such content, it laments me to see how upcoming generation is becoming slave to social media, OTT and influencers. It's harrowing to see how kids and even adults these days get hooked to reels and shorts to no end. 10 year old daughter of my cousin creates at least 2 vanity reels everyday (clothing, food, make up) 🤮 . I feel it's high time that govt should start regulating these to avert an otherwise likely catastrophe. The other day I heard Mrs. Palki Sharma on a podcast saying that govt can't decide what kind of content people like to consume, rather it's the joint accountability of consumer and creators. . But I strongly believe that govt can (of course they can legally) and should (morally) strictly regulate these. I mean everyone is bound to pay taxes, obey traffic rules etc. You can't be like "no i want to make out with my partner in public so deal with it". No. There are regulations in place to keep together the fabric of society and content should be subject to same laws. (We've already had film censor board for ages) . Soft porn, random housewife shit, and idiot romance and cool stuff popular amongst teens should be absolutely banned (or at least confined to few minutes per day like they've done with TikTok in China). And then fake news circulating over WhatsApp should be curbed. Next up all anti India elements should be starved off. . Yes call me authoritarian but I stand for an intelligent, responsible and moral society.

There is good and bad. I would be happy if gen z could eliminate the slave mentality some old folks still have. Striking a balance btwn work & life is needed. Otherwise it’ll be all abt money & dark stuff

Tbh, no one knows there preferences early on life.
Most of us are running behind things even when we have no idea about what will we do.

If they are enjoying their life and also looking out for the future, I don’t think it should be an issue for anyone.

We all wanted something when we were younger, because someone had the same thing.

We can’t judge anyone because we are all far from perfect.

As much as I understand how certain Gen - Z’s may sound cringe or may act entitled. You have to agree that this happens with every generation. The older generation hates the younger generation cause of certain changes in how they do things.

You also have to understand that Gen Z’s aren’t afraid to call out what’s wrong whether it’s their boss or their colleague. The generation previously were still stuck in the slave mentality of where work is worship and boss meant God. However now youngsters don’t believe in that blasphemy. They know and don’t fall for phrases such as “we’re all one big family”.

All generations can learn from each other is what I believe in. Some things need experience some things need fresh blood and new ideas. We’ve all been chasing things from the start. Ambition , Greed , Obsession whatever you wanna term that chase is on you. Generations before were obsessed with going abroad or buying houses. The ones before that were obsessed with FDs and wanting their kids to be a way to achieve their lost dreams.

Think of it this way. The current generation works hard so that they can make sure the next one gets a better and easier life. You work tirelessly now so that your kids don’t have to start at LVL 1 where you started but at a much better position.
