The state of AI summit reminded me of the Sam Altman quote that "it's hopeless for india to compete in this space"

what a clown show. there were days, long past, where we knew we ain't no vishwaguru and we were okay with it. we were humble about it. today, we still aren't some vishwaguru, but fooling ourselves has become more important than fooling the world.

If only private universities were good enough to create such techs, India would have been competing with China

Thanks to this post, I actually went and visited the AI Summit myself today. The most negatively hyped Galgotia stall (colleges are in Hall 6) was already shut down. But that’s honestly a very small part of the entire event. There are 100+ Indian startups and mainstream tech companies across Halls 1–5 showcasing genuinely indigenous tech. I personally saw multiple products built in India — not just wrappers, but deep-tech infra, AI platforms, robotics, and applied AI solutions. There were also foreign delegates and buyers exploring partnerships and subscribing to Indian tech offerings. Companies like Sarvam are building foundation models for Indian languages — which is a far more complex and strategic problem than people realise. Let’s not allow one incident — that too from a college stall — to define the entire Indian AI ecosystem. The broader picture is much bigger, more serious, and honestly quite promising.
