Funny how the real job description starts after you join

During the hiring process, HR never mentioned anything about unpaid 24/7 - 2 weeks on-call duty every 2 months, not in discussions, not in the contract. A week after joining, I got to know from teammates that it’s a mandatory practice. When I confronted my manager and said it wasn’t part of my contract, his response was, “There’s no escape, everyone has to do it.”

This is exactly the kind of thing that erodes trust between employees and organizations. If something is expected, mention it upfront. Don’t hide behind “that’s how we do things here” after someone’s already joined.

Would like to hear your opinion on this
