
Frustrated with Policies
I’m working on a project for U.S. clients. Most of my work happens from 6 PM to 1 AM, but my supervisor is forcing all employees to do mandatory 9 hours in the office. Most of us are doing night shifts and only spending 5–6 hours in the office during the day. ( double shifts). In day time, most of the team members are sitting idle, acting like they are doing work. But our manager still want all of us in office for 9 hr in day as well as in night client calls.
If we were to do double shifts—9 hours in the office plus the night shift for clients—it would seriously affect our productivity and health. If we miss any client calls, the manager and team lead threaten to escalate and say we could be terminated.
I can’t go to the office at night just for ₹360/day, so I’ve been doing swipe in and out. There’s also no ODC in Gurgaon. If I start doing full 9 hours in the office, it will burn me out, especially with daily commuting to Noida.
What would you do in my situation? This feels unethical, and I’m really unsure how to handle it.

You have every reason to vent out.
But, 9 hour policy is not dictated by your manager. This comes from the upper management

Always remember 9 hours a day is enough. Once in a while stretch is ok But not always. tcs is no longer the company which is safe so you should focus on upksilling and be ready for sudden layout. Hence 9 hours to maintain is important. With low pay come commited time.

For eg: there's a c3b lady who will always take sick leave and team lead guy will not question her
And to Juniors he'll ask all sorts of questions why you r taking leave in emergency etc etc
Its more of a language concern in my project
All people from same language
Best thing to do is if u have visibility to your delivery head u can ask for release and go to another account matching your skillsets

Why work becomes so much toxic I have no idea
I was working in a project but project got ramped down now in bsfi they have 2nd shift and 9:30 idk how to tackle this i dont recall them saying its in second shift
Now I have temp allocation but I am not sure

Omg I am not even able to imagine what kind of frustration you would be going through … I am not sure what may be the reason for you to stay here but if that is not motivating enough the. During day when you visit office study for interviews give them and better to exit as I assume you manager is insane and frustrated with himself and showing his bossiness on you 😓

Your point is valid, but honestly the manager has nothing personal in this. It's the company policy and if it's non compliant then hr will catch and terminate you. It will be beyond the manager to justify it and save you.

And also we apply for half day , wfo exception and have no show for day in a month they are not giving NSA for that day but official we worked.
