And what’s the problem with that? He can interview you still. Doesn’t have to be a front end person to see if you’re competent on comp engineering basics and a lot of other areas. Checking FE expertise might not be feasible but could very well not be his intention.

Yep he can totally. But rather than shooting up questions that aren't really FE specific, or basic COE knowledge, and asking about how things are actually happening on BE/Server/HLD is just a waste of both of our time. If only I knew about all that with 1+ YOE, I would be applying for a Full Stack role :/
