From dev to consultant- career transition difficult to revert to dev?
I am currently working as a developer with 4 years of experience in java. Its been 2 years here in tcs. Now I am getting an offer to join a big 4 as a consultant. Pay is almost 2 folds that from what I am currently getting. But will it be possible to return back to development post the switch? Or I should not juggle between my career path. Although the consultant role requires some tech knowhow but I am not sure if I am really up for the change
The post can differ from company to company
System engineer and software engineer doing same stuff in our parent company
Consultant doesn’t mean that they are going to just “consult” and become non tech
Generally these orgs give the role and make sure you almost do the same work as a dev rather some added non tech knowledge( which down the road is gonna help you up scale your career)
And in the end it’s good money too. Hope this might give you some perspective
Wishing you the best !!

I got clarity nature of the job is to know the tech from their client and prepare reports. Its just like you need to be well aware of software design and architecture but mostly on document side.

never leave technical field. you can join as consultant for the money but since you are just starting my advice is to gain more and more technical knowledge.
