Friends in your city for a 3 AM medical emergency
Background:
Working as a senior software engineer at a big tech firm with 7.5 years of total experience. TC ~1.1 cr.
As my org recently mandated return to office, I relocated to BLR away from family and friends. Since I had to anyways move to a new city, I am more and more realizing the lack of a real support system. I have great colleagues and we enjoy the campus perks, but I don't think I can rely on them if something goes wrong.
- How many friends in your current city can you actually call at 3 AM for a medical emergency?
- Are there communities or groups who help techies living alone?
- Is this anxiety worth exploring or should I give up this high TC and start interviewing for remote roles?
Please suggest, it would really help me set my expectations right and plan for the next 6 month

I believe, for medical emergencies even many unknown strangers will come to help (unless money is required). So this worry seems really unfounded, I mean I am pretty sure any office colleague will come to help if there is REALLY a medical emergency.
But speaking of personal exp, I had recently taken help from one ex-colleague who lives nearby. And I can assume there are at least 5-6 more such friends and colleagues who can readily come to help if any urgencies arise.

Thanks for sharing this. It is definitely reassuring to hear that people step up during real emergencies. Glad you had that support when you needed it.
