Freshers civil engineers such low pay scale , WTF !!

How is the market for civil engineers freshers ? My brother has been looking for a job since a few months after his top notch graduation but the pay scale is too low and so are the opportunities.

It is true that you should opt for civil only if you have a huge ass family business of construction ? Or companies are doubtful in hiring skilled freshers in civil domain What do you think guys ?

Define low? What’s the role, qualification and CTC like?

As low as 10-20k a month.
Qualification is BTech Civil from NMIMS Mumbai.
Annual CTC being offered is 1.5-2LPA.

I just wanted to know the industry standards for fresher roles in the construction domain.

Thought so ! Really no scope for passionate graduates . That's sad reality here

Yes, i have switched from civil to analytics. I wouldn't advice to get into that industry. Down the line in 40s after earning sufficient capital one can start their own real estate with as little as 5 acres but wouldn't recommend to pursue as early career after for... Even for masters nope.

If you don’t have sufficient money to open a form of your own down the line, then don’t even think of building a career in the field. My friends with 6-7 YOE tops max 7-8LPA

Ask him to do some tech course/MBA and switch to greener pastures. Also, WLB is also a big headache.

That's a very thoughtful advice !
Thanks . He wants to pursue Masters in Sustainable development . But wanted to get hands on experience first before pursuing for masters but oh god ! It's terrible in civil domain .

Dubai or gulf countries play really well for construction engineers.

Beg him to leave this field. I hope you meant some old IIT by “top-notch”. Either clear CAT/GMAT and do MBA. Or do CS/Data type MS in some decent USA university. Many bright students dig deeper hole to avoid 4 year “lost” in Btech and find in a deeper hole after 10 years.
