If you don't like the project, reach out to your people lead asap... Before hard lock. Stress on your suitability to the expected responsibilities

Well, you needed to ask that in the interview. I mean that's where the final selection is done. Clarity as to what you wanna work on is required, else support projects are plenty.
Anyway, try to get in a call with who ever is the POC (PMO or Interviewer) and clarify.
