Founder's office vs product mgmt?
Which is a better role in Indian startups? And why?

Founder’s Office is a very Bangalore thing, role is basically a mask for unstructured work with no tangible value.
The only condition it’s useful is when the company has a great PMF and wants to expand into adjacent categories.

You would be amazed to hear that VPs at bigger companies (I'm not saying random startups, but think Fortune 100 companies) would use Chief of Staff roles - although under another title)
And often that's a very big responsibility working with the C-suite in very high priority items.
It's just that, these CoS or Founder's office roles are often considered as admin roles, or similar things.

This only cements to what I stated- such roles are impactful only at mature companies.
However, the current hype is for early startups where this role is too unstructured (or just Ops) and thus not appropriate for growing skills esp as a young professional

People who said both are similar have done neither ..

founders' office is like tier1 secretary with their own set of tasks ... in very small startups both r the same.

Founder's office roles are quite unstructured in comparison to PMing. PMs work with tech and other teams to solve problem within a particular vertical but founder's office role could be spread across different horizontals.
