Trending @Infosys; Forced WFO

Hi team, so in my projects all my team mates are from different DC, so there is no collaboration going on anyways even when I work from the office, so what's the use?! Its more like working from home only! My manager is forcing me to come to the office 10 days a month even if I am not meeting anyone in the office? Does anybody have any suggestions

Thats what I am going to do now, solely because of wfoffice unnecessary mandate

Yeah. I also thought like that when i was forced to work by my manager last January 2023. Since only other person was in my team in my dc. She is also on and off on wfh as she is so far away. 2hr travel. But as my home town is 500+ km i can't stay in daily rent for 10 days. Had to work on monthly rent which was like 6.5 k in pg with food. Honestly, i thought it was a waste of money.

But, i met some amazing people there who became more than just colleagues. We came like lifelong buddies. I was an interovert which in combo with wfh made it hard for me stay connected via teams. But wfo made it good for me mingle in society not aure if its correct word. My friends all are mostly not my teammates. We are across multiple units and projects just introduced like friends of friends and got to know by trips and movies . So yeah you can get friends as long as u have taken first step which i was lucky to take

I am not saying like wfo is good for everyone but it worked in my case even though i lost some money i got many things.

I was also joined as fresher so u can take my in hand salary when i gone for wfo is only like 26k+ monthly.

I am in a similar situation. I stay 450 km from the nearest DC and need to go to the office 10 days a month. My shift is from 2 pm to 11 pm, and there's no one to talk to at the office. The DC is 22 km from where I stay, and I have to rely on the office bus. Every month, I need to visit DC for 5 days, either in the first or last week.

The manager doesn't understand my situation and keeps insisting I come to the office. He isn't concerned about where I live or my base location. I reach the office around 8:30 am, leave by 6 pm using the office bus, and join back by 7:30 pm for my shift. I miss my family a lot during those 10 days, and I've been doing this for the past 6 months. It's exhausting and creating an unnecessary burden for me.

What do you think life was before Covid?? If money is not enough and you need to save money , take a shared accommodation.

Its not about money! Its about us having to travel to the office when our teammates are not there for collaboration! What's the point?! Before covid this was not the case!!!!

Things were different before the covid. Old timers were used to this lifestyle before. People who joined during /after covid experienced a complete WFH working environment in corporate. They got accustomed to this WFH lifestyle.
I guess managers are asking employees to wfo as they have been told to from higher authority so can't blame them.
If you want to blame, blame the 'always high on something' /dumbass policy makers

Same thing for me too, our unit has mandated 10 days a month, but my client has mandated to go 3 days a week, and that too in our office , not on clients side, despite I am onboarded to clients team as contractor. I go to office, hardly talks to anybody and comes back home , there is no collaboration if my team is not around , I am WFO is totally pointless(at least in my situation) . Just staying in other city without any purpose 😑

I am in the same situation. I just dropped an email to my manager regarding my situation where I'm asking for a couple of weeks of WFH. I was WFO since the past couple of months. I hoped there won't be any questions raised when I actually need WFH. But a recent directive has put me in a difficult spot. Project is at a crucial stage as they say. And we working on weekends as well. But they now want full control on their employees so they are forcing us to not take leaves during festivals.
I already planned to resign by mid october without offer. I absolutely hate this controlling management practices.

Similar condition. All my team mates are working in different DCs. I was insisted to go offfice for 3 days a week to client office which is very far from my home. It tooks 4 hours travelling time in a day. Also, client team mates are working in different DC. So, I dont have anyone to make conversation or share my thoughts on works. Just sitting alone, going alone for lunch and returning back with complete tired. Hardly speak 10 words in office.

This should be changed. Managers should convince the client and should bring up whats the importance of coming to office and team discussions.

If everything is online and we need to do the same in office, it is not at all perfect planning.

Thansk for reading!!!
