Fluidity is the new normal

The employee count of IT companies is not going to increase linear to their revenue. i.e. previously # of employees required to generate $B revenue were fixed. So with revenue there were incremental jobs. However with AI, # employees required are going to decrease each passing year. IT companies can generate upto 2-3X extra revenue with same employee count.

For TCS, due to so many employees this problem is BIG. So there will huge mpact on the experienced employees. TCS can manage same revenue with half of current employee base. So it will keep pruning the 10+ yr experienced the employees every year. Currently TCS is running behind post Covid lateral hires. But eventually when that part is complete, it will target the veteran TCSers too. For new hiring, it will keep hiring freshers with cheaper salary than lateral hires.

So if your salary is 20L+, experience is 10+ yrs; you will always be under threat of job loss in IT. Fluidity list is the new normal & will happen every year.

You can't replace freshers to work like 10+ real experienced tech engineers. Same think happened in 2015 at tcs. 95% AI projects are failiing not adding any values or revenue but surprisingly nobody is talking in this aspect. Someday this AI bubble will burst.

Why the GCCs would do that ... they were setup to replace some part of the work that these services companies do.

Fluidity is new normal in tcs... agree... even if one does not kicked in this cycle, there is next Cycle and then another one, and continues, till they are able.to bring the headcount down by 1L OR there is some report that AI is not of much help and projects are going back to previous way of execution.

Staying back in TCS does not help.also, one's earnings are so poor, onsite opportunities are going down day by day... even after going to onsite also, it ia same story of struggle to run your family.

I feel change jobs quickly, save some funds and start some non-IT some small business... and think of growing from there.

look at Oracle ... results are out... they gave employees shares... now even a sacked employee is so happy and they are going to get an earnings of 1 cr... this is called employee care, giving it back to workforce... and not cheat them by giving low salaries, making them work in projects that does not value add, and doing all.sorts of things in the org so that employees do not get focused in news/ways of working beyond the organization.

what is there to analyze? ... boss, try to move out of the org even dont kick you out... you are losing earnings that gives you savings in cash... you are/will be leading a life worse than than of a class 4 employee or even worse (rag picker) !

Only a experience guy can handle AI well. By the way AI hallucinates a lot . It will take years to make stable AI , at this time , people who knows handle chunks of code to integrate , debug , delivery in less time is the new normal . Vibe coding will not work , I repeat will not work . Maybe in college project u can do vibe coding not in real world project .
