Figma’s new motto: “Why fix design when we can just copy other apps?”

Is Figma still a design tool — or just a tech company chasing shiny objects?

At Config 2025, they just unveiled: • Sites – Webflow / Framer called, they want their roadmap back • Buzz – Canva with a cooler font • Make – An AI chatbot that “codes” (because why not) • Draw – A Frankenstein of popular plugins • Grid – Aka, CSS Grid. Coming soon: Figma Invents HTML?

Oh, and FigJam is still Miro with cuter stickers. Slides is just Pitch without the templates.

All this, while actual design improvements crawl (we got load time improvements, wow).

Variables? Still clunky.

Typography tokens? Arrived fashionably late and underdressed.

Basic usability? Still hoping.

Remember when Figma was the tool for designers? Now it’s playing Silicon Valley Pokémon — “gotta acquire ’em all.”

We called Adobe out for this. Why does Figma get a pass?

Figma, do better.

Designers aren’t just your users — we made you what you are.

If you’ve felt the same frustration, let’s talk.

Drop your take. Demand better. We’re in this together.

Are we Designers Obsessed with Figma?

In startup and mid-level companies, single designers often spend more time on developing design systems, exploring Figma's new features, and adapting to its yearly updates rather than focusing on essential tasks.
