Feeling Stuck in My Current Role. How Do I Pivot to Data Science?”

Hi everyone, I’m a 24-year-old working at a local Salesforce partner company in Hyderabad as a Business Analyst. My role is extremely limited, and there hasn’t been much meaningful work since I joined about 8 months ago. Unfortunately, the company has a 2-year bond.

Before this, I worked at a startup in Bangalore in the data science space (RAG, etc.). I was genuinely excited about that work, but it didn’t convert into a full-time offer. After that, I joined my current company through a referral.

Right now, I’m feeling frustrated for a few reasons:

1. It’s a 5-day work-from-office setup.

2. The work itself isn’t engaging or meaningful.

3. The bond requires me to pay back my entire salary if I leave before 2 years.

I honestly feel like I’m wasting my time by staying here. My parents are willing to help me pay off the bond if I get a good offer.

What I’m aiming for is a switch to a decent product-based company where the work is meaningful, motivating, and ideally remote or hybrid.

Given that I want to move into the data analyst/data science domain, what do you think my priorities should be?
