First thing first..Dont comapre , you are ruining your happiness with the comparison. You are the boss for your life, dont let your mind ruin it by comparing.

You assume that you lack tech skills and need a mentor to help you. That's where the problem is. Have you not seen your manager/corporate executives lie thru their teeth?
Fake your skill set. But remember you can maintain that fakery for only one year from joining.
You are not dealing with harishchandra types so you need to be truthful. Write a resume that's two-three steps short of saying you sent rockets to mars.

Just FYI, 20 years back hyderabad had an area that's known for providing fake experience certificates for a fee. The issue became so global that companies would refuse hiring candidates from andra.
