Feeling hopeless !

I recently interviewed for a renowned company for the role of data analyst. Cleared all the rounds, finished with the HR discussion and now the HR says that there's some confusion and we cannot proceed further. I just wasted all my energy and time. Has anyone experienced such a thing ever??
