Feeling guilty after 6 PM.
29 Male ,working as Sr.MLE at an MNC.
Job is very stable and I log off at 6 PM sharp.
It is Tuesday today and I have been sitting idle for hours.
Most of the people I know here at grapevine are grinding 12 hours a day and friends in my circle are building side hustles.
Now I am confused,I have a lot of empty hours.
Am I slacking off?
Or is this normal?Cause I feel bad when I see folks upskilling till midnight.
I thought getting an MNC job meant peace, but now I feel like I am wasting my life.
My daily routine : 6 PM log off.
Gym and dinner : (2 hours)[7-9 PM]
Then I just watch youtube or play games till sleep.
Overall I have 6.3 yoe now.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I might be overthinking,I cannot talk about this empty feeling with my parents or friends (or anyone around me)

You have 3-4 hours of actual freedom in a day, and capitalism has done such a good job on us that even those feel wasted unless we’re optimizing ourselves for it.

100%. I think that is exactly why I feel so guilty. It is really hard to just enjoy the peace without feeling left behind.

Hey buddy, I go throught this as well. Imdulge in a hobby that makes you move and for that u need to go out. Join a boxing club, or learn a musical instrument in an academy, if possible learn horse riding. U have time and can make the most out of it. Yeah it'll cost u money but will give u a different set of skills and environment that will make u stand out..
I know it easier said then done, but u r bored, better move it..
Not everytime u do a thing is for your upskilling, learn actual skills. Keep up the work..

Thanks for sharing this. You make a great point about learning actual skills instead of just upskilling for work. I'll look into joining a club nearby.

If this comfort period started recently, I would advice you to enjoy it for sometime, till a clear self-defined date. After that, start thinking what you should do next.
If you don't know what you want next, think in 2 directions:
- What did you want in the past that you couldn't have then?
- What do you see your future as?
As you are unsatisfied with your present, answers to these definitely won't be 'Just like it is now'. That might give you some ideas.

You are 29 so you have almost 5-8 yrs of experience and from this experience you must now have an idea of what are the missing pieces(unsolved problems in systems u have worked in) in the market.
Why don’t you start finding those problems; now you too have a side hustle where you can invest ur time in.

How much is your package?

live ur life don’t follow fake capitalism

I don’t see a problem in it
