Feeling behind in life - 3 YOE at MNC. How are peers already at 1.5Cr+ assets?

Need a perspective shift. I’m currently at Infosys with 3 years of experience joined as system engineer. I have about 5L in emergency savings, no debt, but basically 0 assets.

Lately, the FOMO is hitting hard. Looking at my immediate friend circle (also 3 YOE):

Friend A has assets worth 2Cr.

Friend B & C have multiple acres of land (2-4 acres) near highways.

Friend D family just bought a 80L house, an iPhone 17pro max, 1L gold chain and his brother completed masters and started earning.

I feel like I’m standing still while everyone is sprinting. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the "generational wealth" gap showing up at this age? How many of you are in the same boat (3 YOE, ~5L savings, no family backup)?

Would love to hear some honest takes

There’s a saying: don’t compare your Day 1 with someone else’s Day N.

A lot of what you’re seeing is generational wealth, parents or grandparents who built assets early. That doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. You’re just at an earlier stage. With time, smart moves, and consistency, you’ll get there too. For now, focus on what’s in your control: upskill, switch to a better-paying role when possible, and once things are stable, explore a side hustle or business.

Don’t compare, use others as inspiration. Your timeline is different, not worse.

It all sounds like generational wealth but you're not behind. Accept where you are, and then start learning. Learn DSA, switch to Faang type companies, or switch to a better paying company. Use the extra cash to invest hard and build your wealth and assets.
