Fake Experience

Hi fellow developers,

I’d love to hear your thoughts based on your experience: If someone is genuinely a good programmer but has padded their resume with fake experience (e.g., exaggerated roles or fabricated projects), do you think it’s a harmless shortcut or a bad move long-term? On one hand, it might open doors, but on the other, it could backfire if discovered or create imposter syndrome. Curious about your perspectives—have you seen this work out or go wrong?
