FAANG - mental health down the drain?

Everyone raves about working at FAANG, but no one talks about this: the stress levels are through the roof. You’re constantly competing with literally the smartest people in your domain, and if you slip up even once, you can feel it in your reviews. It's soooo hard trying to keep up all the time. Anyone else feel like it’s just a glorified rat race?

Glorified rat race where you are paid handsomely

You can either choose to be smartest one in room full of mediocres or be the struggling one in the room full of smart asses

Its just the later one is more challenging and better rewarding at the same time

Better rewarding, how?

Wait, why are you competing amongst yourselves ? afaik almost all companies in FAANG have their own domain carved out, so competition should actually be pretty less and monopolizing should be more right ?

Good take but I don'[t think that is true at all owing to systemic bias.

I think everything which is worth doing is a glorified rat race.

Because anything that gives the thing itself meaning, is other people’s validation, and that means multiple people want it for themselves.

I have experienced the same at Samsung, but outperforming my peers gave me confidence and made me feel as if it has added value to my technical skills. Samsung is definitely not FAANG.

I have been 3 years at Samsung now, and I was looking for a switch and google has always been my dream company. Could I reach out to you, for a refferal?
