FAANG job with low base + high RSUs vs Start-up aiming for IPO with high base + 1st year joining bonus = Base + 1st year RSUs of FAANG job.

What will be the take for long-term career and financial growth considering how the global world is changing and tensions at the border. How the markets will react. Is it safe to jump to a start-up with good pay and IPO possibility now or keep on juggling within FAANGs.

Go to FAANG if it has good culture. In a startup if you are slogging 16 hrs, your salary is essentially half. Plus, your mental heath will be ruined. You will start looking out within a year!

Thanks for the response. This startup is more like a mid size company now (10 years old). I am inclined towards FAANG but there is negligible increase in Base which would impact my appraisals for next 2 years and hence getting skeptical.

Couldn’t get to talk to folks in the start-up however I am seeing on linkedin profiles that so many tech and non-tech folks staying here for 6-8 years.
