Experience before Masters
Hi!
I'm currently doing my Masters from tier 1 University in India and have 4 years of experience working as a Data Scientist in an MNC. When I go for a job search for a Data scientist role soon, will my job experience before Masters be considered and given a role according to the seniority?
Hey just really curious , why did you go for a master's after 4 years in the industry? Did you see something worth learning which you otherwise couldn't with a job or in hope of better prospects? Cuz I also find myself grappling with this.
And my 2 cents - your prev experience will be taken into account but it depends on what kind of roles are actually offered at the campus. I'd say talking to people who've gone through the placements with a similar bg would help.
Talking about data science, I found various jobs asking masters or PhD and sometimes that too from tier 1 college. So to expand my job eligibility. I'm doing masters in a field (information security) which I feel will be combined a lot in future with data science given increasing digital threats. So to expand my knowledge as well. Higher pay in some cases. I understand there are exceptions to all of the above listed but that's what I went for.
I'm considering off campus placements since on campus usually have a lower base pay, they just inflate CTC by adding one time bonuses and other stuff. So my question was from that aspect if my experience will be counted ?
Previous experience will be considered only if it was in Tech (in my personal experience)
Yeah, as i mentioned it's in data science and my masters too.
