Exited company’s lowball circus

Hey folks! I’m a software developer with 4+ years of experience. Was working at a US-based tech firm. The pay was good(earning 25 LPA), but the hours were brutal. Add in constant micromanaging, and it got so toxic that I just quit without another offer lined up.

Started applying in feb this year, but nothing was really clicking. Got a couple of offers eventually, but they were lowballing hard. A company expected me to relocate to Bangalore without even adjusting the salary and offered 20 LPA (I’m based in Gurgaon).

So yeah, had to play the game a little. Edited my previous salary and realigned my expectations and managed to land an offer that actually made sense. Got 80% hike in this market. Honestly, got lucky too, but just glad it worked out.

If you’re stuck in a rough patch right now - don’t give up. Keep at it. You only need one yes.

When you say "edited my previous salary and realigned my expectations", what does it mean? What did you do?

Btw congratulations on getting a desirable offer.
