The big company conundrum
Each of their product is mediocre now. It’s not surprising. Google today isn’t like the google of the 2000s. I gave a few interviews there and observed people usually ask questions they themselves cannot answer and they nitpick your responses to the maximum extent possible.

Google is now a “normal” company, it does not have explosive growth with endless revenue as seen in early 2000 so can’t be all employee friendly heaven, it has to look at balance sheet and optimise for share holders like normal companies do. There are n number of proto google emerging which we don’t know yet which have all those ex google culture but there fate would either be same.
