Every second company seems to have performed layoffs...

Hey guys, I wanted to ask how exactly you guys are evaluating which companies to join. A little bit of my story, have been job hunting aggressively for the past few months and it looks like every second company has performed PIPs or layoffs and I'm wondering how I can filter the right workplace for myself without constantly worrying if I'll be a target again of layoffs and I'm looking for advice in this domain.

I've already been through a layoff after which I'm going through a grueling job search which is finally yielding some sort of a result and I wonder about this question quite a bit. Thanks!
