They want the rest of the world to work for them as much as possible, while paying those employees as little as possible needed to retain them, so the profits of the owners/shareholders is maximized. That's what your post is essentially describing.

Yaar I will just give you the other side of it. During the loop we try and see how much is the role fit for the candidate, we ask them why do they want to join a startup vs big tech. They say they have passion etc, and then when you suddenly see random competing offers that feels bad. There are candidates who are clear from the beginning and there's no issue on those

Clarity is a two way street mate. You don’t get any if you won’t offer any. That’s that. There is no other side concept here. This just a side either right or wrong, period

It's a free market man, would the candidate be upset if they see you are interviewing 50 people on the side while keeping them involved as if they'll get the job?
