Evade expected ctc question

A recruiter has reached out and want me to share my expected ctc by mail. But on glassdoor, the average salary seems to be more than my expectations. So I am worried about quoting my number now and getting low balled later.

If I quote it too high, then there's the problem of justifying it.

Anyone faced a similar situation? Would appreciate suggestions.
