Ethical conundrum
I've been working in the service based company for almost years and worked my ass hard for customer projects.
In return all I got was empty promises of promotion and hikes less than the inflation rate. I generally don't compare with others but my CTC is half of what my friends are receiving and it's affecting my confidence.
So planning to take a full week off (sick leave of course) to skill up and also prepare for interviews and move on but it might impact the new project (customer delivery) which I'm leading now.
Is it ok to cross the ethical boundaries to do something like this ?
Let me know your response and please comment your suggestions if any other.
PS: Able to attend just one or two interview calls as even working on weekends. No offer in hand yet

There’s no ethical boundaries in corporate. Do what fits you best. Take the risks you must to grow.
No company looks after you, they only look after their profits.
Get a medical certificate and go on that leave, turn off your phone and think through how you will work on your growth.

You're absolutely correct. Thanks for the spelling out the truth, I was spending most of my energy on work and when it comes to self goals feeling exhausted and pushing it further. It's time to prioritize self first.

If you are still asking this question means you are in a comfort zone. You don't want to take risks. I'm pretty sure here you are looking for some to side with you so that you can just stay in the comfort zone.

I'm afraid of that well, so please suggest is it ok to take leave or just resign and move on

I’ve learnt things in a hard way. Here’s my honest advice.
Do bare minimum at your workplace that will help you to stay employed. Prepare for interviews everyday. Face 10-15 mock interviews. Seek feedback from friends / ex-colleagues / folks on LinkedIn on your profile. Keep refining and improving. Once you feel you’re confident to bag atleast 1 offer - again, only when you’re confident to bag on offer, resign.
Keep up the grind. You may not receive any calls in the first month. You might receive calls when you’ve got 45 days left in notice period. Apply to roles by tailoring your resume , ask referrals , cold DM recruiters on LinkedIn and don’t forget to prepare for interviews.
You need to get only one offer first.
Update your resume on Naukri regularly
Do it everyday before 8 AM
Next, reach out to folks on LinkedIn, your friend etc and share your resume.
This is tough. Honestly, it’s difficult. But don’t give up.
I forgot to mention this point- do not resign if you’re on debt or have no emergency fund. I might sound conservative but one needs to have 12 months of emergency fund in this day and age. Only when you have these funds, resign without an offer in hand.
The biggest risk in life isn’t taking any risk at all. You’ll fail interviews. It’s okay. Learn from your mistakes. Understand this- you need only one job in hand. Consider the failures to be a stepping stone in life. Until this, keep up with the grind.

Thanks @Pixel_Pusher for the advice and suggestions on mock interview to gain confidence. Btw any ai or site for mock interviews?
