
Engagement vs Quality
To the Grapevine team, The introduction of DMs as a locked/earned feature seems like a tremendous idea to unlock engagement. Anecdotally, I definitely see a lot more activity on my company channel post this new feature release. Regretfully though, a large majority of that new activity is just spam or click-baity rumours like "layoffs". This has significantly detoriated the quality of discussions on the platform - something that is likely to get masked under improving engagement metrics.

This is something which is bound to happen with the increase in number of users. Can’t do much. More the traffic, more will be the spam eventually. And GV as a platform also cannot restrict the content completely as it drives engagement on the platform.

Not sure this is because to unlock the DM’s or not. I am personally not using DM’s very much. Have had only 1-2 conversations until now. But again it cannot be generalised so maybe this is the reason.
