Embarrassing Cheating Story 🤫
It happened about 4yrs ago when I was looking for a job change for the first time. I hadn't practiced DSA in a long time and I was giving interviews without enough preparation.
So during a virtual interview the interviewer gave me a DSA question which I had a look at a couple of days ago but still didn't know how to solve properly.
I thought it would be easier if I can just search through my browser history to find that solution I saw.
I might have searched my history for about 15-20 secs and suddenly realised that I was fking sharing my screen on call 🤦
{Trust me! I'm smart, this was a brain fart moment}
I immediately closed the history tab and pretended like this never happened, and tried to solve the question on my own.
The fact that both of us didn't say anything makes it even more embarrassing for me. There was an eerie silence which makes me think he saw what I was trying to do.
During the whole call I was super embarrassed, but I gave my best and was able to solve half of the cases, but didn't get selected for the next round, obviously.
till today I wonder whether he saw that I was trying to cheat or not ? and what he thinks of me?
I'm aware/realise that this is what happens when you try to cheat, so either don't cheat or be smart about it 🙂

Kind of an opposite thing happened with me. I was giving the final interview for a company and the interviewer asked me some question and told me that I am free to use Google to answer it. Now, I was shocked to listen this and was kinda thinking if it's a trap or a genuine concern. Anyways I went ahead with Google search and got selected.✌🏼
I was looking for a different kind of cheating story but okay.

You know I was taking interviews for few candidates from 2023 grads in last December. Since it was a virtual interview so I was using my phone but suddenly when I saw the screen he was googling something and he didn’t realised he is sharing his screen 🤣🤣
It's ok, it happens. Even he would have understood your urge to prove yourself and hence did not say anything then but as you said he did not select you either.
