To be fair, sure, other parties got donations too, but BJP BROUGHT THE ELECTORAL BONDS SCHEME. It tried to legitimise the loot!
It's like trying to bake corruption and political kickbacks into the law itself. That is the most disturbing thing for me.

And later, it tried everything to stop the data from being released through SBI. Even now, they haven't matched the donor-party list like you're telling me you can't write a simple JOIN query!?

There should be another option - Sab mile hue hain ji

Exactly sab mile hue hai . The question is biased in assuming that only BJP got the proceeds

People saying it is OK need to really understand that BJP heralded itself as Messiah from Corruption. In the end, political parties are expected to at least stick to their manifesto.

Us being OK in corruption and saying it just moved from Black and white is slightly disturbing because we are legitimising corruption.

Obviously it is not BJP alone. But that’s not the point. Question is always asked to people in power and they have higher accountability than opposition because they are chosen ones.

Justifying the amount received by BJP or comparing per MP/MLA or giving center vs state argument is devoid of morality and ethics. What is wrong is clearly wrong. Not sure where we are finding gray areas even here.

It's not my money. So I don't care

It ultimately is taxpayer's money.

If there's a loss to government revenue because of corrupt practices or if the market is not free and fair, taxpayer's are directly or indirectly affected.

Supreme Court, the only savior left! Government's transparency is as clear as Delhi's air. Wake up, India!

Every co got the donations,
Some parties with presence in just one state got 25-30% of what BJP Got.
Everyone is rotten to the core.

Atleast we know names of businesses who donated funds to parties via electoral bonds.

Now think situation before this bonds, cash payments, untraceable sources, black money used to donate funds to parties..uska hissab hi nahi hai.

And I think its fair as it will reflect in company and party balancesheet.

Now why, what these companies donated this much amount thats requires separate thread for discussion

Electoral bonds was supposed to be anynonymous. Govt was never keen on revealing these names!!

As for black money, supreme court has categorically pointed out that electoral bonds could be further sold which makes it a tool to convert black money into white.

If you look at donor companies, many are loss making, and very strong evidence of shell companies (qwik media cupply chain) linked to big corps like Reliance.

The only logical purpose seems to be to facilitate and make it convenient for corporations to donate to the ruling party. Plus, do you think the Supreme Court isn't as smart as you are?

And by "donate", I don't mean ethical donation, but rather corruption and extortion, looking at the ED cases and govt contracts to donor companies.

Also who are we kidding, companies have a fiduciary duty to maximise shareholder value and not to work in the interest of the ruling party lol. The only reason they'll donate is if it gets them policitical kickbacks like tax recusals or contracts.

I understand politicians saying that all parties are corrupt so it doesnt matter. I understand media saying that all parties are corrupt so just ignore this corruption. But what is shocking is Indian citizens saying that corruption doesnt matter because everyone does it. I dont know if the general population in any country has been so brainwashed to support an autocratic leader that they would even defend corruption done by him.

This is what happens when a leader believes he is bigger than democracy. We have seen this in the 70's and now in 2024.

This time all the pillars are shaken/damaged and it will not be easy to fix.
