Editing Offer letter for counter offer

Is it ok if I edit the offer letter to get better counter offers from other companies. And can we use that edited one in our current org to get retained with a good package. Does HR cross check the offer letter from other companies.

Mate! In my company people were fired after joining, because they couldn’t clear Background verification as they had faked counter offers. Dont even think of doing that. I don’t know how companies find it out, but they certainly can

How do they find out
I don’t think there is any way they find out what offers they rolled out They might verify salary slips in background verification not offer letters which were not accepted

Boss there are lot many apps which can track changes/edits in a pdf document. Also recruiters know the format of offer letters of other organisations and any slight miss in any of the calculations will be easily caught and over all the act is very unethical..just remember the day you learn to cheat yourself .you are done that day only

Lemme simplify it for you. 50% of the comments say do it and 50% not to do. If you mix 50% dirty water in 50% pure water, its still dirty. Conclusion: don't do it.

So for you not doing it is dirty 🤧😭

For the context, I have not done any edit but by curious I am asking this question. Because one of my colleagues has done this.

Edit Offer Letters

I was thinking since people send offer letters by hiding some information can we edit the compensation ourselves and ask for better compensation. Although i know this is not right but just curious how HRs validate whether its valid one o...

Negotiation doubt

Just a curious question.

If i have 2 companies with almost the same offer(12 LPA), both are start-ups. Can I negotiate with 1 of them that I have another offer of around 14 LPA. And if yes do they ask for proof before joining or after? ...

Offer letter sharing for salary negotiation

I accidentally shared the actual offer from one company with another company instead of sharing just the anexure. Will there be any consequences? Does HRs contact each other to verify competing offers? I am a bit scared that the first co...
