Why do you think of it as dowry? It's just inheritance girl gets when she's getting married. I don't see any wrong in it tbh. Only problem is when a guy abuse her after marriage for more that's when it's fucked up

Only a telugu person can say dowry is not wrong, because telugu folks give/get a truckload of stuff/gold. I can say this because I have telugu friends & family members.
Dowry giving is not bad only because of families that abuse it. This practice forces poorer sections of society to give bigger dowries.
It's a society-degrading practice. It leads to female infanticide. It leads to women not being educated. because they're seen as a dowry burden. It leads to women being married off to anyone just because they ask for less.
And OP, you say it's not acceptable in the first place and yet you want to know how much is given elsewhere, especially gold?
