Doubts on Career break?
I am 26M, having 3 years of experience in the IT industry(automation). I left my job in Jan 2025 and am still unemployed. It's been 3 months of unemployment and it might take me 3-4 months more to upskill and land a job on a positive note. It would accumulate for a total of 7 months. Will this career gap be a breaker or hindrance to land a job, if so please suggest something.
And also which technology should I study as I want to land a decent paying job.

No, if you can justify your UpSkilling phase then all is good.
If you're familiar with Java as you already have automation experience, learn JAVA development along with DSA.

How does one justify their upskilling phase though...
The lazy HRs would just choose not to deal with a candidate right away rather than evaluating the upskilling, with so many candidate options available to them na

I am thinking of starting with AWS and Devops, will this be a good pick?. Once I get placed I am thinking of then starting with DSA with C++

I graduated in 2021, I started working full time in April 22 and I left my job in December 22 (due to family problems) now I'm trying to look for a job since early 2025. How cooked am I?

I quit in December 23.
I think we're cooked.

A 7-month career break won’t be a major issue if you use this time to upskill meaningfully. Since you have automation experience, learning AI/ML, DevOps (AWS/Kubernetes), or Cloud can help you land a high-paying job faster. Focus on hands-on projects to showcase your skills.
