Yup, those who devote themselves to work inevitably do a disservice to their loved ones. That’s why balance is must

Indeed

This news is just a PR placement, for him to justify that he worked long hours in his prime. So, his expectation of 70hrs is not unreasonable.

Man wants everyone to work 70 hrs a week only because that's the only way the Infosys model of cheap labour and dollar arbitrage works.

Lulz 😜 it’s a trade off .. between family and career .. working 70hrs/week nothing to be proud of

Absolutely boggles my mind how a whole generation is triggered by an out of context comment when it doesn’t even apply to them.
It’s a trade off. If you value success more, invest that time in work. If you don’t, invest time in things you value. Unfortunately people want the riches without putting in the work. And end up resenting successful people who did put in the work cos it reflects poorly on their own choices. Often assuming they somehow cheated the system. Cf today’s USA.
Also, if you let artists define your meaning/fulfillment of life, you will always be angry and sad. It requires introspection not just mimesis to look cool among your peers.

Then why not overpay for overtime? I don't think anybody would mind with that

Murthy- If you work 70hrs a week for the next few years, may be I will be able to afford the latest Rolls Royce or Ferrari". Absolutely detest this man and the company to the core. I worked for a year and they basically never paid my PF. That is how they become Billion Dollar company. May be the amount wasn't big, but at that time, it was a lot of money for me and my family. The culture that was there in the company was simply poisonous and I have never seen any employee come and speak positively about Infosys. Absolute trash!

I feel like in general, to make his upcoming blood line experience a good life, one must sacrifice his own. For example if I work hard, make more money and make crores by the time of retirement, my children would be living a happy life growing up, but I would have aged, bored of life, probably confused on which asset to invest so that when my children grow they will have much more money.

That's true actually.

This totally depends. Many army soldiers kids wouldn’t get chance to see their father and they are still okay with it. So if someone wants to pursue their career over family it should be their call. We are no one to judge here.
