Don't do start-up from India.

The fucking RBI isn't allowing stripe to onboard new customers. We have waited for more than an year to open a stripe account, now Stripe told us they can't due to restrictions by the Central Bank and we should not expect to be done anytime soon.

Stripe the market leader for accepting recurring payments. Also, their fees are significantly lesser. Been using PayPal and this guys take 13% on every transaction. Recurring payments are extremely painful.

For a simple trade license, I had to bribe the officials. Goverment websites don't work for simple things such as registration.

For stripe now I have to setup an LLC in US and all this crap I have to do every year.

How the fuck one supposed to do a business in India?

I will be labelled anti-national for this post, most probably.

Opening a tea stall and cafe in India is easy. Starting a startup is more difficult.

That's exactly the gvmt and babus wants. Earn just enough to survive so that you don't become bigger and cause trouble.

Even for cafe, you might have to bribe so called babuji to approve your gst.

You do understand how recurring payments work right? Should I ask my customers to do wire transfers to buy a software subscription?

This happened with Razorpay, Paytm, Cashfree for some other PG related license in late 2022 it was there for close to more than a year. See if other gateways solve for your use case, Razorpay has a product for cross border payments. See if they cover your usecase. I am not much aware on the recurring payments support from Razorpay for cross border paymnets though.

Opening a cafe is also not easy. You have to bribe for food license, bribe GHMC for garbage collection, bribe traffic police for parking. It's a mess

Going to sleep, when I wake up. I'll explain the issues every platform you're recommending. Many of them we have already tried. Nothing comes close to Stripe and Paddle, which the RBI has put restrictions on.

Maybe this will be helpful for those thinking of starting up.

Even i will have to setup my company in US to accept international payments. Building a startup for world is so difficult in India. Razorpay or any other platform doesn’t work that seamless internationally. Now just because RBI is rejectint stripe i will have to restructure my company and have to open in US

Being an ex paytm I will tell , the mc govt did same with paytm, I always saw fear and sadness in paytm leadership when govt puts random restrictions over them, not sure how phonepe and amazon pe were evading similar restrictions
