Does your company/office ever celebrate Muslim festivals (or Eid) ?

I believe most companies do celebrate Hindu, Christian, Sikh etc related festivals.

We are asked to dress up according to the festivals, and do some kind of Puja or at least something about it

I have never seen any company celebrating anything remotely related to Muslim festivals. Have you ?

(just putting out a message on slack etc doesn't count)

If Yes, please share the details.

If No, Why do you think that is ?

Yes, always.
Yes, but rarely.

Islam is an exclusivist religion. The definition of "the other" is clear and reinforced multiple times in the book. It's a closed door ecosystem, deeply tied to specific rites and the rituals are not done in a public forum.

This makes it a significant hurdle for non-Muslims to understand what the significance of the festival is and organically celebrate the festivals. Just eating Biryani / Sheer Khorma on Eid isn't celebrating the festival.

On the contrary other religions don't care who else celebrates their festivals. Its well publicised and out in the open. Post Pax Americana Christian festivals are marketing fests which make it seem like they are being celebrated, but people are just participating in the consumption.

hmmm that doesn't seem to be related to the question I asked.

does your company celebrate or not and if not why ? from the company's pov

No. You also asked for the Why. As above.

Getting involved in anything muslim == inviting problems.

Please don’t start communal threads here as well, already the world is too divided on too many things

Just curious . If a company wants to take initiative what should it do? What are your ideas on it ?

Wow I thought this platform is different and the educated elite millenial India will be beyond prejudices and atleast knows how to do an actual research. Alas, going through the comment, its the same bigots.

I'm glad I asked this question.

I have also not seen companies celebrate Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, festivals.. they celebrate Hindu festivals due to the majority of the population being Hindu and Christian festivals are celebrated because western world took it across the world with colonialism.

Our company celebrates Eid. But one of the reasons companies don't celebrate is due to the sensitivity of the culture and rituals. Refraining celebrations may not harm anyone but celebrating in a wrong way and impacting their beliefs may bring unnecessary nuesances.

have you seen any instances of that "may" in your last line ? or what is that belief based on ?

Not from Amazon. But in our company, we have a special lunch around Eid. And it's pretty much same for other festivals like Xmas, Diwali, Holi and all. I think the only thing extra was some garba and stuff that hr organised during navratri.

It's pretty much chillin Indian corporates afaik. There's no point doing Puja, namaz or whatever. Everyone in corporate is hungry for money. No point brainwashing religion in office. Ppl will just become loud and violent like RWAs across country. And might as well give religion and stuff reason for slacking lol

No corporate wants that My 2c.
